Following last year's successful debut, the FC Zugersee team headed to Portugal for this year's pre-season trip: Under the sun of Estoril, the squad completed a highly successful training camp that perfectly blended athletic intensity, great spirits, and unforgettable team-building moments.
Weeks of organizing and planning took place behind the scenes to make the trip to the Atlantic coast a reality. As the flight finally took off toward Portugal, the excitement among everyone involved was palpable—and Estoril was ready to deliver on all expectations in every respect.
Sweating It Out: Intensive Sessions with Hydration Breaks
The team focused on business from the very first minute on the pitch. To ensure optimal preparation for the upcoming league matches, the coaches scheduled several intensive training sessions. In the pleasant, yet sweating temperatures, the coaching staff placed a strong emphasis on dynamic play, tactical discipline, and precision in build-up play. To keep energy and concentration levels high throughout the days, regular "hydration breaks" were essential: During these quick water stops on the sidelines, the players refreshed themselves before diving right back into the action.
Stadium Atmosphere: Watching Sporting CP Live
A standout highlight away from our own training pitch was a dip into top-tier professional football: The team attended a Sporting CP match live at the impressive Estádio José Alvalade. The incredible atmosphere in the stands, the passionate fan chants, and the high-speed combination football on the pitch gave everyone goosebumps and provided top-class entertainment for the entire FC Zugersee delegation. (Sporting won 2–0 against Nacional Funchal).
Team Building and Shared Dinners
The social side of the trip was equally memorable in the Portuguese coastal town. During long, shared dinners in a relaxed atmosphere, the squad enjoyed fresh fish, local specialties, and cold drinks while analyzing the day's training sessions and sharing plenty of laughs. The evening spent in Lisbon was another major highlight: Whether enjoying a traditional churrasco (barbecue), strolling together through the historic streets of Lisbon, or dancing late into the night—the team spirit and camaraderie grew even stronger.
With valuable training miles in their legs, fantastic memories, and a tightly knit squad, FC Zugersee returned home. A huge thank you goes out to all the organizers and supporters who made this unforgettable training camp possible!
